We warmed up our vocalizers with singing on Monday morning. Of course with tapping toes, our feet were warm, too. It is always a nice way to begin the week. Lunch arrived and our afternoon was relaxed with some folks doing puzzles, reading, watching television, or napping, at which we are very good! Our popcorn time rousted us up and out of our cozy rooms to the dining room to snack and visit. We have become very good at social distancing and count at least six, one-foot tiles to measure our distance from each other. Just before supper, we played a great game of bean bags, six tiles apart, ha-ha! This week’s winners were: 5th place: Shirley Klinski, Dorene Melstrom. 4th place: Ron Hermundson, Ivan Mason. 3rd place: Frances White. 2nd place: Lou Seyffer. First place champ: Alvin Bergmark and Beryl Anderson.
Competition was tough Tuesday morning between the three best song title guessers. Name That Tune is sometimes more about shouting out the title faster than another! Best guessers this week worked out to be: 3rd place: Penny Stafford. 2nd place: Barb Smith and Shirley Klinski. 1st place champ: Mary Ellen Coulson. Lunch followed our game time and soon Jessica was out and about delivering mail and visiting with folks. Nugget, the mini goldendoodle made room visits and folks enjoyed meeting him. Vern was nice enough to share his cookie with Nugget! Or maybe Nugget just took it. The dining room was soon buzzing with pokeno players as the afternoon wound down. This week’s big winner with the most “pokenos” was Richard Jarosinski.
Our exercise guru, Stacey, popped in a great CD for “Movers & Shakers” and you should see us move and shake! Well, maybe no, but we certainly have fun and really do work off calories while strengthening our bodies. After a good lunch, we set up for bingo. Everyone is able to win quarters and candy. Our blackout winner this week was George Komro!
Bowling is first on the agenda on Thursday morning. If you have never tried sitting in a wheelchair and bowling, don’t knock it. It really is harder than you think! But our seniors are troopers and do that best they can. We played four rounds and winners this week were: 5th place: Irene Converse. 4th place: Hazel Berger. 3rd place: Barb Smith, Beryl Anderson. 2nd place: Shirley Klinski. 1st place champs: Alvin Bergmark, Ray Zinka. Thank you to Marilyn Heath for being our score keeper! Lunch was served to this hungry bunch and mail was delivered. Our crafters gathered in the dining room mid-afternoon to make fall trees. We painted trees onto canvas and then “decorated” them by gluing on all kinds of beautiful, autumn-colored buttons! Each one was unique and yet charming! We had some time before supper to reminisce with Jessica about old saying, where they came from, and old saying that we used or remembered from our parents.
Our drumming group was on hand to play with music from the 60’s, including some Beatles favorites! We enjoy this time of making up our own rhythms or just keeping the beat. There is a place for every kind of drummer. Soon after, lunch arrived and the afternoon offered mail delivery and some patio time. During this season, we often think of football and our beloved Packers. As such, this week’s happy hour was “Fantasy Football”. Everyone had a turn being the quarterback, lineman, or spectator in this fun-filled stadium. Football were flying and a bean bag game of football was also included. Beryl Anderson and Ron Hermundson took top honors in the bags game. Our tailgate snack included corn dogs and soda pop!
A sunny Saturday was in store and some of us chose to sit outside with light jackets. Popcorn treats helped us pass the time until a good group of folks turned out for bingo. On Sunday morning, everyone was offered the opportunity to worship through their particular church service on television. Later in the afternoon, Stacey delivered snacks and drinks to everyone! A fun time of reminisce ended the afternoon. Until we meet again, be smart, stay safe, and we hope to see you soon!
