Western songs and guitar blew in like a tumble weed on Monday morning. Those old cowboy songs are fun to sing and everyone seems to remember the words! “Vittles” were served and the afternoon brought mail delivery. We especially appreciate all the well wishes and thoughts in the form of cards and letters during this time without visitors. Stacey was busy popping fresh popcorn and she delivered it straight to our door! It’s a great snack midafternoon. Just before supper, we enjoyed playing bean bags, albeit six feet apart! Winners were: 4th place: Lyle Snyder. 3rd place: Beryl Anderson. 2nd place: Rosie Schreiner. First place champ: Barb Smith. It felt good to get out of our rooms, change the scenery, and get in some physical movement!

Tuesday morning we played Name That Tune as we were all scattered throughout the dining room. Many folks took their turn guessing titles and Mary Ellen Coulson was our first place winner with 13 correct answers, just edging out Barb Smith with 10 correct guesses. Shirley Klinski followed with five and behind her was Irene Converse with four correct answers. The afternoon included many room visits with Jessica visiting each room and offering snacks, reading material, puzzles, and crafts. There was enough time before supper to play Pokeno; just like bingo but with playing cards. First place champ was Irene Converse followed by Frances White, Beryl Anderson, and Shirley Klinski.

Our Wednesday morning began with exercise! We found our places throughout the dining room and Stacey was out and about leading us all in “Movers and Shakers” throughout the dining room, and you should see us shake! We still have the moves even if we seniors! After lunch, there were room visits, mail pass and snack deliveries. Soon after, we played bingo and everyone won a few pieces of candy or quarters and it made the afternoon pass quickly. Black out winner this week was Marilyn Heath. The bingo cards and chips were washed and put away just in time for supper.

Thursday brought out the bowlers ready for some strikes. Winners this week were 3rd place: Shirley Klinski. 2nd place: Dorene Melstrom, Hazel Berger. 1st place champ: Irene Converse. Lunch was served, mail delivered, and Jessica was soon traveling the hallways with her manicure kit, dressing up all our ladies’ nails. She added a bit of trivia as the afternoon continued. We also roamed our hallways, taking down Easter decorations and keeping up signs of spring décor. We are very much looking forward to being able to sit outside and soak up the sun.

Friday morning was our tropical themed dress up day. Folks donned wonderful combinations of pastels, Hawaiian shirts, and flip flops. Everyone was offered a leis to wear. Then out came the drummers and they were full of energy. We included some Jamaican sounding music to carry on the tropical theme. After lunch, and the mail delivery, we were visited by the activity staff with a celebration our tropical dress up day. Our music choice was the Hawaiian War Chant, while Stacey and Laura danced with their grass skirts and the bubble machine accompanying them. Oh my, what a sight! Along with the dancing, they served fruit cups and magical drinks. Then we chose some crazy tropical outfits in which to have our photos taken. It was a fun ending to a rather busy week.

Saturday was a bit quieter and we really miss our visitors on the weekend. But Stacey was around with the mail, and visiting each of us. She later popped fresh popcorn which was delivered to each of our rooms. We ended the afternoon with a fun game of dart ball. Winners were: 4th place: Alice Girard. 3rd place: Alvin Bergmark, Beryl Anderson. 2nd place: Ron Hermundson. 1st place champion: Frances White. On Sunday morning, everyone had a chance to join in their particular church service with church on television. Some of our family stopped by our windows to chat by phone and later in the afternoon, Jessica brought coffee and donuts to each room which was a delightful treat. We also played trivia in the hallway. Winners were: 3rd place: Irene Converse. 2nd place: Mary Ellen Coulson. 1st place champ: Lois Richardson. We hope this finds you and yours staying healthy until we can meet again! For now, we are staying in, and taking extreme measures to keep healthy and virus free. Thinking of you all, often and hope you will consider reaching out to someone you know in our facility. Say “hi” with a phone call or greeting card. It certainly brightens our day!
