Plum City Master Gardeners, Sherry Gilles and Judi Brunner worked with some local kids and Mom to do some yard cleanup for Earth Day, though it was a day or two after. This year happened to be the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, started by Senator Gaylord Nelson.
Casey Pelzel and children and friends pitched in to help. Our 2020 Volunteers were Casey, Riley, Madelyn, Lauren and Gabby. They brought their rakes and gloves to join in. For the last 12 years we have been able to have an Earth Day talk at the Plum City Library, and then work together to clean up flower beds and pick up litter in the area. Students from Plum City Elementary have always been able to pitch in to help until this year.
Let’s all celebrate Earth Day, every day of the year! Pull those weeds, pick up litter, and smell the flowers!
PS. Neighbors, Marlene & Harriet brought cookies and coffee, so Sherry and Judi also got to enjoy conversation, relaxing in lawn chairs and the sunshine.
