Hey, here’s a great Valentine’s idea!
Take your sweetie down to the Plum City American Legion Post for the best fish fry buffet around.
The Legion has been serving the fish fry for 64 years. There are six spring dates planned: Feb. 14 and 28, March 13 and 27 and April 10 and 24.
It’s a busy place. Susan Sanders has been overseeing the food preparation for about 11 years.
“We serve anywhere from 250, and we’ve served all the way up to 400,” she said.
“It’s a great community event. Neighbors come in to see each other. People come from all over. It’s a great fundraiser for us, and it’s great for the community.
Serving starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.
“We’ve had times when we’ve had to start early,” said Susan. “If there’s a lot of people waiting, we’ll start serving.”
The fish fry buffet includes fried and baked fish, and it’s Alaskan cod. There’s baked chicken, potato salad, two types of coleslaw, baked beans, French fries and don’t forget about those onion rings.
“That’s a big thing,” said Susan.
