Plum City Schools ask district residents to document COVID-19 era for history, announces Americanism essay winners

All cancellations for Spring 2020 will be noticed on the Plum City district website and not via social media. That website address is https://www.plumcity.k12.wi.us/. Cancellations aren’t the only thing happening in Pierce County, however, and with this in mind, the Plum City School District is asking district residents to document the impact that COVID-19 is having on daily life. Specifically, Plum City Schools wants its present students to have a record in the form of a possible yearbook entry to help record the historic times now upon all of us.

Announcing the request for a photographic record on their Facebook page, the Plum City district wants to document student activities “while practicing social distancing”, along with community photos and staff, or “something you came across that made you say, ‘wow.’” Students and others wishing to upload and contribute photos may do so by going to the link https://padlet.com/cgerth/nh8n4a39zhe7 and clicking on the '+' sign to upload. The goal of the Plum City district “is to represent each and every student in the yearbook at least three times,” the Facebook page says, thanking district residents for their help in the endeavor. Also announced via Facebook are the first place winners for the Americanism Essay Contest for each grade level. These are: Grade 3 – Alana Ratzlow; Grade 4, Mary Peterson; Grade 5, Tim Peterson; Grade 6, Lilly Pullen; Grade 7, Carolyn Trannel; Grade 8, Parker Bechel; Grade 9, McKenzie Brunner; Grade 10, Lauren Schultz; and Grade 12, Hannah White. The first place essays for grades 4, 6, 7, 10, and 12 will be sent to the state competition for that grade level.
