Plum City seniors tap their toes at happy hour

Monday was a flurry of activity! Noel started out the day with leading residents in morning exercise at Monday Movers, but it was hard to find willing participants as a lot of folks were still sleepy from the weekend. More residents came into the dining room afterwards as Stacey started strumming the guitar at our morning Sing Along. After lunch was served, enjoyed and cleaned up it was time to gather the artists for Crafty Corner! This week, Noel and the residents made Snowballs of Gratitude to adorn our gallery wall. They thought about everything (big or small) that they were thankful for and once the snowballs were completed, they created a lovely collage with the snowmen already up on the wall! Tic Tac Toss kept everyone busy in the afternoon and once the game was through, Dennis Fedie came in fourth, Herb Tschumperlin was third and Kay George and Milda Bautch tied for second. Pam Gansluckner was our first-place winner this week! Supper refreshed folks and then Teresa Fedie arrived to help with Monday night Bingo. We appreciated all her help with the game!

We eased gently into Tuesday with Father Jojo at Mass after breakfast for our Catholic residents; thank you to Julie Tschumperlin for reading! After lunch, there was plenty of time to deliver the mail and chat with friends. The popcorn machine was fired up by Stacey in the early afternoon for our Popcorn Social and soon you could hear (and smell!) those kernels popping away! As residents scooped up every last bit of popcorn, more room visits and popcorn deliveries to residents took up the remainder of the afternoon. Soon, it was time to gather in the dining room for church; this week was a hymn sing with Stacey on guitar and the group gradually grew in size as the sweet melodies floated down the halls.  After a yummy supper, residents stayed in the dining room to play the dice game “Lucky 4” with Noel. Congrats to Larry Thompson for his first-place win of 64 points!

Bowling is always a great way to spend a Wednesday morning and this week was no different! The crowds came out to play four rounds and cheered as Shirley Klinski and Zeona Bechel tied for fourth place; Milda Bautch, Ivan Mason and Jeff Halverson tied for third and Dennis Fedie scored second. Kevin Bauer and Larry Thompson both played a great game and tied for first place this week! Once lunch was enjoyed and mail was delivered, it was time for a game of Fruit Bingo in the afternoon. Thank you to Wanda Ebensperger and Monica Krings for all their help with passing prizes and cleaning up: we couldn’t do it without you ladies! Our Blackout Bingo champion this week was Annette, a visitor from the community! We ended the afternoon with munching on corn chips and dip. What a wonderful treat to celebrate National Corn Chip Day for the Mid-Week Social!

Thursday began with a delicious cup of coffee and the local news being read to residents by Stacey. With the cold and flu season upon us, she also read some old remedies from yesteryear. Man, with some of those old-time remedies the treatment was sometimes worse than the illness! Lunch followed, along with mail delivery, and then Stacey was kept busy in the afternoon with offering manicures to all our ladies in line. It is always a relaxing way to spend the latter part of the day and the gals really enjoyed the pampering they received! Soon, supper was ready and then it was on to an evening of Pokeno fun with Willow.

Our action-packed week ended with a Friday morning game of Shuffleboard and we had such a large group that there was only time for two rounds! Janet Robelia and LeRoy “Hank” Hankinson tied for fourth, Alice Brantner came in third and Dee Anderson was second place. Milda Bautch beat everyone with a first place win this week! It was then on to lunch and mail delivery to begin our afternoon. After the noon meal, Noel and Chef Jeff were busy at Snack Makers, mixing up a savory cracker mix that was later baked in the oven. The snacks and drinks were ready to be served as Jeff Bechel arrived for Happy Hour and we then spent the next hour, tapping our toes and dancing along to peppy polkas and whirling waltzes. There were A LOT of dancers on the floor, especially when Elvis songs and polkas were playing! Once the party ended, it was time for supper and then later on, Movie Night, with the comedy “Evan Almighty.”
