PLUM CITY – After returning from a closed session meeting Monday, April 26, the Plum City School Board approved a search for a new district administrator / elementary principal for the 2021-2022 school year.
Amy Vesperman, who currently holds that position, submitted a resignation letter on April 5, which the school board accepted that night. According to School Board President Erin Clare, Vesperman will be with the district until the end of her contract on June 30.
The “Daily Jefferson County Union” newspaper announced March 25 that Vesperman was one of three finalists for the Jefferson School District superintendent position. Jefferson is located between Madison and Milwaukee.
Clare said in an email she was not sure of Vesperman’s future plans. Vesperman did not return a request for comment.
Prior to coming to Plum City, Vesperman began her career as a high school/middle school language arts teacher in Belmont. She also taught in Fall River and Waterloo. In 2002, she was a middle school teacher, athletic coach and curriculum coordinator in Fall River. She later became the Dean of Students in Germantown before accepting the role of assistant principal in the Delavan-Darien School District. She moved on to a director of curriculum, instruction and assessment position for Wisconsin Heights School District before becoming the superintendent of the Albany School District in 2016. She became Plum City’s superintendent in July 2018.
