ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to the Ellsworth Police Department March 22-27.

Tuesday, March 22

Officers responded at 10:08 a.m. to 540 W. Cairns St. for a fire alarm caused by burnt food.

A vehicle vs. building crash occurred at 3:50 p.m. at Victory Fireworks (430 W. Cairns St.) Justin Thobe, 53, Wabasha, Minn., was backing a vehicle out of the garage after doing brake work. The brakes failed and Thobe hit the accelerator by accident in panic and struck the Victory Fireworks building. The building had minor paint damage, but the vehicle had severe back-end damage. A Victory Fireworks employee asked that Thobe clean up the glass from the broken vehicle window and touch up the paint.

At 4:08 p.m., a complainant reported that after she was arrested at a probation appointment on March 18, a woman who had ridden with her took her car, which contained her purse and wallet. She noticed several transactions had been made on her debit card while she was in jail. Police passed the information onto Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Wednesday, March 23

At 7:54 a.m., an Ellsworth school bus driver reported a vehicle that failed to stop while the bus was stopped with flashing lights and stop arm out in the 600 block of South Piety Street. The vehicle was located parked in a handicapped parking stall at the high school. The driver admitted to failing to stop for the bus and parking in a handicapped space. Citations will be mailed.

Anthony Barber, 41, Beldenville, was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign after a traffic stop at 6:08 p.m. near Crosscut and Main Street. His citation will arrive by mail.

Officers responded at 11:33 p.m. to 191 Evergreen Estates St. for a report of a man shoving people and yelling. Police arrested Chace Williams, 27, Ellsworth, for misdemeanor bail jumping. Another suspect left before police arrived.

Thursday, March 24

Police received a complaint at 11:14 a.m. at 364 N. Maple St. of someone allowing the complainant’s child to operate an ATV on the roads. The complainant was informed it’s a family issue.

A suspicious person was reported at 12:34 p.m. near 244 W. Woodworth St. Police had spoken with the suspect just prior to the complaint at Main and Chestnut streets. Just after the complaint, he was observed near Main and Piety streets.

Friday, March 25

A caller asked police to perform a welfare check at 8:56 p.m. at 358 S. Piety St. A man was found on the floor there with a bleeding hand. An ambulance transported him to the hospital. Charges for violating a protection order will be referred to the district attorney for the man.

Saturday, March 26

Police responded to a twovehicle crash at 6:33 p.m. at Main and Plum streets between Daniel Hayes, 75, Ellsworth, and Carson Nugent, 17, Ellsworth. There were no injuries and the vehicles were removed.

A complainant reported a large fire at 8:24 p.m. at 253 N. Maple St. It turned out to be a firepit that was being attended to. Police assisted Ellsworth Fire as needed.

Officers received a report of a domestic incident in which someone was slapped at 9:30 p.m. at 298 E. Main St.

Sunday, March 27

At 6:39 p.m., a complainant at 431 W. Church St. found a pink glass meth pipe in his yard. The pipe was taken and destroyed.

Police responded at 7:35 p.m. to a domestic incident between brothers at 442. W. Warner St. The suspect was gone when police arrived.
