A complainant reported a gray Saturn that was weaving in and out of its lane of traffic and had nearly struck two vehicles head-on. An officer located the vehicle and followed it as it turned onto the Highway 35/65 bypass. When he pulled the vehicle over, the driver, later identified as Michael J. Sladky, 40, Ellsworth, rolled down his window and the smell of marijuana rolled out. His mother eventually led him to their home, at 113 ½ Main St., but he called police again five minutes later about the incident. At this point, the property owner asked that Lopez be trespassed from 105. N. Main St. due to ongoing disorderly conduct. When an officer tried to read the trespass paperwork to Lopez, he spit on the officer’s hand and wrist and walked away. When the officer placed a hand on his right arm to inform him he was under arrest, Lopez began to struggle; he refused to obey the officers’ commands to “stop.” He continued to resist until officers placed him in a squad. He was taken to River Falls Area Hospital for a medical evaluation due to the intoxication, where he at times refused to walk and officers had to carry him. He was medically cleared, but immediately became belligerent again. He attempted to kick an officer; three officers finally handcuffed him and took him back out to the squad by wheelchair without further incident. He was arrested for battery, resisting/ obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and discharge bodily fluid at law enforcement. However, at the jail, he failed the booking process after several attempts. He was placed in a cell.
