ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to the Ellsworth Police Department July 6-11.

July 6

•At 11:45 p.m., police responded to 185 S. Maple St. for a loudly barking dog. They knocked on the door and called the owner’s cell, but could not make contact. The dog was not barking when police left.

July 7

•At 8:24 a.m., Jamie Hayes, 34, Bay City, was arrested at 310 W. Main St. for a probation violation. He was taken to Pierce County Jail.

•At 11:42 a.m., police responded to a minor two-vehicle collision at Piety and Woodsworth streets between

Steven Bartlett, 66, Ellsworth, and Ryan Matzek, 17, Beldenville. Both vehicles were heading northbound on Piety Street, with Matzek behind Bartlett. While both were stopped in traffic, Bartlett began a backing maneuver and backed into Matzek’s vehicle. Photos were taken.

•At 1:02 p.m., a complainant at 232 S. Piety St. called police to report his rear license plate missing. He last noticed it at 7:30 p.m. July 4 and realized it was missing at 1 p.m. July 7. He wanted the theft documented.

July 8

•At 8:36 p.m., police took a complaint of kids playing on scooters in the street at Chestnut and Woodsworth streets. A parent was informed the kids can play in the street but should watch for traffic.

•At 9:43 p.m., police received a fireworks complaint for 404 High Point Drive. People there said they had been shooting fountain fireworks. Police reminded them of village ordinances.

July 9

•At 5:24 p.m., a Holiday employee called police, where a woman was lying on the ground in a red hoodie. She told police she had a ride coming from Minneapolis. Police confirmed she had a ride coming and she told them she was fine waiting.

July 10

•At 5:57 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision at 321 W. Main St. between Jasper Knutson, 16, Beldenville, and Alexander Pearson, 28, Red Wing, Minn. While backing to the left, Knutson backed into the rear passenger side door of Pearson’s truck. Photos were taken of the damage.

• Kenneth Meixner, 30, Hudson, turned himself in at 11:41 p.m. at the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office for a warrant.

July 11

•At 7:35 p.m., police responded to 634 W. Main St. for an animal complaint. The dog owner said they receive several animal complaints per year and showed police that the dog had food and water every day and plenty of room on its chain in the back yard. Police took photos of the dog; nothing out of the ordinary was noted.
