RIVER FALLS Police Department Reports
June 14
•At 4:39 p.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Morning Glory Drive for a reckless driving complaint. The complainant said the suspect speeds, squeals his tires and excessively revs his engine, sometimes when children are playing in the cul de sac. Police warned the suspect for his driving behavior after talking with numerous neighbors, some of whom provided video footage.
June 15
•At 1:56 p.m., officers responded to 3172 Glasgow St. for a stolen 3-by-5-foot American flag combined with a rainbow Pride flag, valued at $7. It was taken between 9 p.m. June 14 and 1:30 p.m. June 15.
•Police responded at 3:16 p.m. to Minnesota Rubber & Plastics (434 Highland Drive) where a newly terminated employee was allegedly making threatening statements to a manager. The manager and employee gave differing accounts of what happened; the employee said his boss pushed him, while the manager said the employee became aggressive and made concerning comments. The employee was trespassed from the facility.
June 16
•At 10:38 p.m., police were asked to respond to 618 N. Clark St. #4 for a dog bite complaint. The dog bite occurred at 519 N. Dallas St. The victim said she was riding her bike northbound on North Dallas when a dog on a leash, being held by a young girl, ran toward her. The dog pulled the girl along with it and bit the victim in the upper right thigh. The dog was quarantined.
•At 7:44 p.m., police responded to West Division/Grove streets for a motorcycle vs. truck crash with injury between a 2017 Ram 1500, driven by Brian K. Aherns, 53, River Falls, and a 1997 HD Sportster, driven by Kimberly N. Krupka, 38, River Falls. Krupka had been heading west on West Division Street approaching the Division/Grove intersection, while Ahern was driving south on North Grove Street. Ahern had a stop sign and failed to yield to Krupka, who had the right-of-way. He turned in front of her to head east on West Division and the two collided, with the motorcycle becoming partially stuck under the truck. Krupka said she locked up her brakes when she tried to stop. EMS transported Krupka to River Falls Area Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Aherns reported no injuries and minor damage to the truck. He was arrested and cited for OWIcause injury (two-plus) and fail/yield while making left turn.
June 17
•At 1:24 p.m., a hit-and-run occurred on West Walnut Street to a 2014 Mazda 6, owned by Kaylen M. Radtke, Hudson. Radtke had parked the car on West Walnut from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The vehicle had minor damage to the left rear corner.
•A woman spoke to police at 1:45 p.m. about her bank account at River Falls State Bank being flagged due to being scammed by a man portraying himself to be on a construction mission in the country of Chad. The woman met the man on Tinder, and he convinced her his credit card had been stolen, so he needed money to get home. He would send money to her bank account, she’d pull it out and then send it to him through Bitcoin out of Hudson. She lost about $13,000.
•At 7:39 p.m., an officer responded to 1024 E. Cascade Ave. for a property damage call. The complainant reported damage to a bus parked near his residence. Four windows had been shattered from the outside. Juvenile suspects were identified and spoken to. The case was referred to child services.
•At 9:45 p.m., an officer responded to the 551 Bandle St. #D for a theft complaint. A resident reported a stolen 2004 Volkswagen Beetle catalytic converter. It went missing sometime between April 2 and May 3. On May 3, the resident posted about it on social media. The next day, the cover for catalytic converter went missing. The repair cost is estimated to be $2,000.
June 18
•At 6:52 p.m., police responded to 202 S. Main St. for a two-vehicle crash between a 2013 Ford EPD, driven by
Joseph Allan Lorence, 38, River Falls, and a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Hailie Jo Roper, 20, Hastings, Minn. Roper turned west onto West Walnut Street from South Main. Lorence was backing out of a parking spot on West Walnut and they collided. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported. Lorence was arrested for OWI and operating with PAC.
•At 7:09 p.m., police responded to Family Fresh (303 S. Main St.) for a theft complaint.
Janessa A. Rasmussen, 19, River Falls, bought items and went to sit in the café. She then went back into the produce section, selected multiple cut fruit assortments, and returned to the café where she concealed the fruit in her bag. She was cited $187 for retail theft – intentionally take and trespassed from the store.
•Police reported to a hitand- run at 7:31 p.m. at Holiday where an employee witnessed a U-Haul collide with a parked 2006 Buick Lucerne, owned by Christopher John Cernohous, River Falls. The Lucerne had minor damage to the passenger side rear. Police located the UHaul driver, Sharon Elaine Hart, 64, River Falls. She did not know she had struck a vehicle. Both parties were told to contact their insurance companies.
•At 11:31 p.m., police responded to Shooter’s Pub (107 E. Elm St.) for unwanted patrons. The bouncers attempted to remove two men who refused to leave. One man had gotten onstage and grabbed a guitar. While bouncers escorted him out, the man’s friend instigated a fight with another bouncer. Both men were told not to return.
June 19
•At 1:40 a.m., police were sent to Maverick’s (128 N. Main St.) for an intoxicated man passed out on the women’s bathroom floor. His pants were partially down, exposing his genitals. Police woke him and he registered a preliminary breath test of .267. EMS evaluated the man, and per dispatch’s instructions, handcuffed him and took him to Pierce County Jail for a probation violation. However, after a mix-up about whether the man was on probation or not (his name was similar to someone who is on probation), the man was released and police gave the man a courtesy ride to his sister’s house. During a search on the man’s body, police confiscated cocaine his pants pocket, which he told police was gum.
• Charles Joseph Mc-Closkey,
35, Fridley, Minn., was cited for urinating in bushes at 2:39 a.m. at the corner of East Elm and Second streets. He said his friend made him do it.
• Anthony Robert Edberg, 40, Forest Lake, Minn., was cited for urinating in a planter at 2:39 a.m. at the corner of East Elm and Second streets.
•At 5 a.m., police reported to 1300 S. Main St. #220 for an unwanted man (the same man from Maverick’s in the report above). A woman at the residence said he had been helping her move the last three days, but she wanted him to leave because he was intoxicated. She said he had, over the past few days, thrown pots and pans in a parking garage, damaged her friend’s truck, went to her work and thrown food at her, and shoved her in a garage. He has left upset at 7:30 p.m. June 18 and police dropped him off at about 4:55 a.m. When police tried to get him to leave, he said he had nowhere to go and asked if he could make coffee. He then started throwing the woman’s belongings. He took a butter knife and popped two air mattresses, which he said he owned. Gregory James Mulligan, 34, address not listed, was arrested for disorderly conduct and fined $187. Another woman picked him up and took him to New Richmond.
• Nicole Gans, 28, River Falls, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. in the 500 block of West Division Street for an active warrant. Police transported her to St. Croix County Jail.
•At 7:25 p.m., a Jimmy John’s delivery driver reported a dog bite he had received around 7:30 p.m. June 18 when delivering to 537 E. Maple St. When a person answered the home’s door, a small dog ran out and began biting his shoe. The owner grabbed the dog and put it inside, but it escaped and bit the driver in the knee. The dog, a Boston Terrier with a biting history, was quarantined.
June 20
• Atic P. Contento Lapo, 28, Spring Valley, was arrested for OWI-third and operate without valid license (second within three years) after a traffic stop at 8:39 a.m. on West Division Street at Dallas Street. He is facing $1,050 in fines.
•Officers responded at 3:01 p.m. to 955 Howard St. for an unwanted person. Anthony Russell Reynolds Para, 30, River Falls, was located a few blocks away and eventually arrested during a “high-risk” felony traffic stop at Mann Valley and Glendale drives for a probation hold. He was taken to St. Croix County Jail.
•At 9:27 p.m., police responded to 538 Birchcrest Drive for a report of three juveniles on the complainant’s roof. The complainant said they also threw a lawn ornament ball, which was found in a neighbor’s front yard. The suspects were identified. Charges for criminal damage to property and trespass to rooftop were forwarded for one juvenile.
June 21
•At 10:37 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash at North Main Street and Quarry Road between a 2005 Land Rover LR3, driven by Aleck John Ross, 16, Prescott, and a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Sydney Jean Isaacson, 20, Oak Park Heights, Minn. Both vehicles were heading south on Main Street and were stopped at the red traffic light at the Quarry Road intersection. Isaacson was in front of Ross. As Isaacson was edging forward, she stopped again. Ross saw her moving forward, but didn’t notice she stopped again and struck the Sonata’s back end. No injuries were reported. Both drivers wore seat belts. Both vehicles had minor damage.
•At 1:55 p.m., police responded to a three-vehicle crash on North Main Street between a 2009 Saturn Aura, driven by Samantha Abigail McCaffery, 19, Prescott; a 2016 Toyota Prius, driven by Michael G. Halverson, 71, Prescott; and a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Rachel Elizabeth Hosszu, 27, River Falls. The light had been red at Division Street (all three vehicles were heading southbound on Main). Hosszu and Halverson were stopped or nearly stopped dur to traffic backing up on North Main. McCaffery didn’t see them stopped and struck the Prius’ back end, which pushed the Prius into the Santa Fe. All drivers were seat-belted and no injuries were reported. The Aura had disabling damage, while the other two vehicles had minor damage. McCaffery was cited $111.40 for inattentive driving.
•At 6:21 p.m., a stolen bicycle was reported at 1000 Pine Ridge Terrace. The silver Schwinn Roadmaster had been propped against the garage in front of a vehicle. It went missing between 8:30 a.m. and noon. The value was estimated at $100. There are no suspects.
•At 7:18 p.m., police were called to the Nutty Squirrel (110 S. Main St.) for an intoxicated man who wouldn’t pay for three Meyer Rum drinks he purchased and told the bartender he was a famous movie producer. The man left on foot and wore a long-sleeved black T-shirt, white shorts, white Crocs and had dark hair with blonde tips. The man was not located.
