ELLSWORTH — Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) has been celebrating National Co-op Month this October with acts of service. Concern for community is one of the seven core cooperative principles and PPCS staff felt there was no better way to demonstrate that principle than through acts of service for the community.

PPCS staff kicked off National Co-op Month by participating in the Habitat for Humanity Rock the Block event in Ellsworth the weekend of Sept. 29 through Oct. 2. Employees also participated in service projects coordinated by Dairyland Power Cooperative throughout its service territory. The PPCS team participated in 12 miles of highway clean-up around the John P. Madgett power plant near Alma, Wis.

“The cooperative value of ‘concern for community’ emphasizes the commitment of cooperatives to the well-being and betterment of the communities they serve,” said Nate Boettcher, PPCS president and CEO. “PPCS employees recognize our responsibility to contribute positively to our local communities.  I’m very proud of their service to help others Live Better.”

PPCS will close out National Co-op Month with a member appreciation breakfast 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at the cooperative headquarters in Ellsworth. They will be collecting donations for the food shelf and Basics for Local Kids at the event.
