PRESCOTT — Prescott American Legion Post 61 recently recognized two longtime members for their outstanding commitment and dedication to the American Legion.
During the Post’s most recent general membership meeting, Larry Berning was honored for completing 60 years of continuous membership in the American Legion. Michael Johnson was also recognized for reaching an impressive 50 years of American Legion membership.
“These milestones represent decades of service, commitment and dedication to our veterans, their families and our community,” said representatives of American Legion Post 61. “Post 61 is proud to recognize Larry and Michael for their many years of membership and support of the American Legion.”
The Post also recognized two members of the Berning family for their connection to the military. Nicole Berning and Shelly Nelson Jilek, daughters of Larry Berning, each received a Blue Star Banner Award in recognition of their sons who are currently serving in the U.S. military.
The Blue Star Banner is a symbol honoring families who have an immediate family member serving in the Armed Forces. Post 61 was pleased to recognize Nicole and Shelly and express its appreciation to their families for the sacrifices associated with military service.
American Legion Post 61 continues to honor veterans, support active-duty military families and serve the Prescott community through its many programs and activities.
