On Friday, April 1, approximately 100 people gathered at The Old Ptacek’s Event Center in Prescott to attend the Crazy About Baseball (CAB) Company 2022 banquet, a fundraiser for various baseball and softball programs in Prescott, which featured keynote speaker Al Newman, who played on the 1987 and 1991 Twins World Series teams.

The program began at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, which was followed by dinner and various local speakers who provided updates and advocated for their organizations. Speakers included Mike Matzek, the PCR Baseball Commissioner, Mike Lytle of the Prescott Pirates, Nick Johnson of the Prescott High School softball team, Jeff Ryan of the Prescott High School baseball team and Carlie Block and Dallas Eggers of the CAB Company.

The dinner, social gathering and celebration of softball and baseball at The Old Ptacek’s Event Center featured various dinner courses that all guests could enjoy. The meal was included in the cost of admission for the evening.

In addition to a fabulous dinner, there was also a silent auction that featured signed photos from professional athletes, goodie baskets, raffle prizes, and apparel for various baseball organizations in Prescott, with proceeds going to the CAB Company fundraiser. As of Monday, April 4, total numbers for the fundraiser have not been released.

Of course, the dinner and various raffle prizes and purchasing opportunities were beneficial for the fundraiser, but a large chunk of the donations came from a list of businesses that include Clifton Highlands, Clifton Hollow, Philander’s, Cernohous Chevrolet, The Ridgetop, Valley Bar & Grill, The Gas-Lite, Two Rivers Bar & Grill, AIM Joy Boutique, Ptacek’s IGA, Prescott Chiropractic, Minnesota Twins and River City Stitch.
