Prescott Community Club Student of the Week: Makaria Haas

The Prescott Community Club Student of the Week for Jan. 21 is Prescott High School senior Makaria Haas, who was nominated by tech education teacher Kyle Schmidt.

“Makaria has been solid since a freshman. Talking with other teachers we feel as if she has been a senior all four years of high school,” said Schmidt. “She leads by example with high levels of professionalism. When the class is asked to do 110%, Makaria does 120%. As an R5 Manufacturing student, she had volunteered to create advertisements for the idea before it became a class. As an R5 student she has been working in and outside of the classroom creating professional level advertisements and informational documents to help speed up and make R5 Manufacturing come to life. She does very well in school, has a job, and creates handmade products to sell and promote to aid her own future. She emails businesses weekly, sets up meetings, and makes business deals with local companies with a record high 96-part order for a local business to help support her class and TE program. She seeks out her own opportunities to increase her knowledge and hone the skills needed for her future in finance. We couldn’t be more thankful for what she has done for her school and community.”
Makaria is the daughter of Maria Houck and Israel Haas. She works at Twisted Oak in downtown Prescott and is a second-year captain on the track and field team, on which she primarily throws discus and shotput.

Makaria enjoys staying active, lifting weights, hot yoga at Bodhi Studios, hanging out with friends, trying new foods and learning new things. She plans to attend UW-La Crosse in Fall 2026 to study finance and information systems. She hopes to one day run a few businesses, never stop learning and continue to help people around her.
