The Prescott Community Club Student of the Week for Jan. 3 was freshman Collin Kosmalski, nominated by Prescott High School science teacher Cameron Meyers.

“Collin has been a great student,” Meyers said. “Recently in this last unit, he has really taken off. He understands the material well and has used his knowledge to help support and teach other students who are struggling. He has shown responsibility, respect and consideration not only to his classmates, but the classroom, the school, myself and other staff.”

Collin is the son of Erin & Mike Kosmalski. He plays baseball for the Cardinals and enjoys video games and spending time with family and friends. The honor roll student is also a Student Council member.

His future plans include pursuing a career as an engineer, business man or baseball player.

The Student of the Week for Jan. 10 is senior Lois Teerling, nominated by PHS social studies teacher Jeff Ryan.

“Lois’s performance in Civics has been tremendous,” Ryan said. “Amiable, cordial and respectful, Lois enthusiastically participates in class discussions and shares her ideas in thought-provoking ways. Lois is always prepared for class and never tardy with her assignments. It has been very impressive to see the confidence Lois shows when communicating her viewpoints and ideas in the classroom. Her willingness to become engaged in class activities has made her a real asset to the Civics classroom. It has been a pleasure working with Lois in the classroom this trimester.

Lois is the host daughter of Jonathan & Cheryl Van Loon. She has been part of the Cardinal Olympics and grape picking for band. She enjoys traveling, social events, beach days, meeting new people, going out for dinner, being outside and doing her nails. She is a also a member of the cross country team and school musical.

In June, she will return home to the Netherlands and start college in Groningen, where she plans to study physical therapy.
