On Saturday, Jan. 15, teams from the Middle Border Conference competed in the annual conference championship dance meet where Prescott finished in first place and Ellsworth finished in second place.

For Ellsworth, it was going to be tough to dethrone the Prescott Cardinals dance team, a program that has won an astounding 28 state titles in the team’s illustrious history. Prescott again finished in first place at the conference meet at Eau Claire Memorial High School on Saturday afternoon and once again begins the road to another state title.

As for Ellsworth, it was also a successful day. Their secondplace finish included a firstplace finish in the Hip Hop Division and a second-place finish in the Pom Division. Téa Hill and Maria Oricchio placed first overall for their duet which also earned them Second- Team All-Conference honors. After the meet, co-head coach Amy Hill reflected on the meet.

“Casey (Oricchio) and I were super happy with the outcome on Saturday,” Hill said. “The girls had a great time and performed very well. We are looking forward to regionals in a few weeks and hope to continue on our journey to state.”

Both Ellsworth and Prescott have high hopes for their dance teams as they begin to enter the most important stretch of their respective seasons. The regional competition is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29.
