The Prescott Kiwanis Student of the Week for Dec. 14 is sophomore Maria Mercord, nominated by science teacher Sarah Westman.
“Maria is an extremely kind, curious and hardworking individual,” Westman said. “Success and curiosity seem to be a driving force in Maria’s everyday life and they continuously shine through in all that she does! I am very excited for the path that Maria is taking and can’t wait to see what is next for her!”
Maria is the daughter of Ron and Jennifer Mercord. She plays Prescott High School softball and is a member of the Ski Club. Outside of school, she is involved in softball, Worship Team at church, and sports broadcasting. She enjoys playing the piano, guitar and softball; biking, hiking, walking and hanging out with friend.
In the future, she’d like to join the Air Force.
