Maya Quiroz

The Prescott Kiwanis Student of the Week is senior Maya Quiroz, nominated by Prescott High School band teacher Jason Canfield.

“Maya is a good musician and a natural leader through enthusiasm and action,” Canfield said. “Maya is willing to help the students and teacher in any way she can through all of our activities and sound. As a band director, it is important to have a student leader willing to engage with the rest of the group for things we need to accomplish. Maya always wants to help and is a positive role model within the band; she is a student I can always trust to help out and lead.”

Maya is the daughter of Ruth Hall and Oscar Quiroz. She works at Lucille’s, volunteers at Joy Lutheran Church, serves as drum major, plays on the basketball team and is a National Honor Society member. She has been nominated for Badger Girls State and has received High Honors for two years. She enjoys reading and hanging out with her friends in her free time, as well as watching scary movies.

Her future plans include majoring in criminology or criminal justice so she can become a CSI or FBI field agent.
