Police arrested a Prescott man outside his home Aug. 4 and executed two search warrants which turned up a potential marijuana growing operation.

Raymond Palmer Borg, 31, Prescott, posted a $5,000 signature bond Aug. 9 in Pierce County Circuit Court on felony possession with intent – THC and felony maintain drug trafficking place charges. The maximum penalty if convicted is 3.5 years in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.

According to the complaint:

Based on Prescott Police Department reports and interviews, police drafted a search warrant for 220 Dakota St., Prescott, where it was believed Borg, a convicted felon, may be in possession of a handgun. A complainant told police that Borg threatened to shoot someone with the handgun on July 29 in the residence. Another complainant said they had seen an AR-15 rifle and handgun laying on a bed.

Because of Borg’s criminal history, police decided to arrest him outside his home as he left for work Aug. 4 to prevent a possible barricaded/hostage situation. Officers converged on Borg as he came outside to leave for work in his company vehicle. He resisted while police arrested him for felon in possession of a firearm and endangering the safety of others.

Borg told police there were no guns in his residence and that they would have to let him go. He was transported to Pierce County Jail while officers entered the home to search for firearms. Once inside, they smelled green marijuana and observed several glass jars containing marijuana and bongs. While officers searched the residence for firearms, another search warrant was obtained for drugs and drug paraphernalia.

No firearms were found in the residence, but officers located an empty case for a Glock handgun and a spent shell casing for a 9mm. Officers also found four totes containing supplies to conduct a marijuana grow/cultivation, a large chart on the wall with growing instructions, grinders, glass jars containing marijuana, THC wax, THC oil, smoking devices, vacuum seal bags and more.

Borg is scheduled to appear for a status conference at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 in Pierce County Circuit Court.
