Prescott Dance Team Coach
This past weekend we competed at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer & Pom Coaches (WACPC) Western Regional Competition at Hudson High School. Due to COVID restrictions, our day was cut much shorter than usual. We are used to performing _one routine in the a.m. hours, and the second in the p.m., allowing plenty_of time for physical recovery and mental preparation for each performance. Our usual 10-hour day was squished into 1, however, the girls were more than prepared. Despite it being our quickest turnaround to date. and no dance parent or spectator presence or (in-person) support, the girls had their best performances_of the year on that Saturday morning- with only us coaches_and judges to witness._ In a normal year, we strive to only worry about controlling what WE can control. With this mentality we remind each other that being so concerned with what our competitors are doing is simply a disservice to ourselves. The people who are going to better us as a team is us. This year, we were forced to focus on ourselves. We were unable to witness any other team's live performance. And the end result was priceless. Our routines this year are by far the most difficult ones we have had to date. Us coaches refused to take difficult skills out, even days before our first competition. At the end of the day, the girls rose to the occasion and then some. Our hearts are so full from a season we will certainly never forget._ Our Regional competition was our last inperson performance of the year. We are STATE BOUND! Unfortunately, this year does not entail a trip down to the La Crosse Center, and rather will be held virtually. We will not hear results until late April but will be sure to share with you then._
