Prescott Riverfront project safe after one grant program cut

The City of Prescott Parks and Public Property Committee met Monday, August 10th. One of the main topics on the agenda was the Riverfront update.

The Multimodal Local Supplement (MLS) Grant Program was found to be illegal by the State of Wisconsin. As a result, not every MLS program was funded. Prescott was fortunate enough to be one of the projects that will be funded in full, instead by the Local Road Improvement Discretionary Funds.

The City is just waiting for the second Assessor’s Plat to be completed so they can move forward with the next step of the project.

The City is drafting the documents to put out a bid for the courtesy dock. A Wisconsin DNR permit must be obtained, and the paperwork will be submitted next week. A state building permit may need to be obtained, but the City has calls in to the State of Wisconsin to find out if they will need the permit. The City may also need to perform a below-water survey to learn where to place the piles under the water. Fortunately, the firm has already rented the below-water surveying equipment for another project.

The City hopes to have bids out by the end of August, with a bid ideally being awarded in mid-September.

The City of Prescott’s Farmland Lease of the City’s Compost Site will expire on the 31st day of December, 2020. The term started on the first day of January in 2019. The agreement, made with Gerald and Jeffrey Kosin, gives them access to farm 110 of the 120 acres of City land located on 620th Ave. in the Town of Oak Grove. The other 10 acres are the City’s compost site. The City collects $11,124 for rent of the land yearly.
