Prescott schools narrow superintendent search to 3

Prescott School District is pleased to announce the selection of three finalists to interview for the position of superintendent from a strong list of highly qualified candidates. The Prescott School Board conducted initial interviews last week and narrowed the slate to three finalists: Nicolas Been, James Reif, and Timothy Schigur.

As part of the selection process, the trio of  finalists will spend a Day in the District on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The day includes a tour of all four school sites by the building administrator, followed by meetings with district administration, staff and students. During the evening, all community members will have an opportunity to “meet and greet” the candidates individually from 6-6:35 p.m. (Schigur), 6:40-7:15 p.m. (Reif), and 7:20-7:55 p.m. (Been) in the PHS Library.

Been holds a Master of Arts with an emphasis in Educational Leadership and Director of Instruction from Viterbo University and a Bachelor of Science (6–12) in Mathematics Education, Health Education, and Athletics and Coaching (Minor) from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. He has served as the principal of Unity High School since 2023. Prior to that, he held positions at St. Croix Central as Director of Teaching and Learning (2018–2023); River Falls High School as Assistant Principal of Academics (2013–2018); St. Croix Central as Athletics Director and Dean of Students (2008–2013); UWRF - Barron as Community/Campus Recreation and Athletics Director; and St. Croix Central as a mathematics and health educator (1999–2007).

Reif holds an Education Specialist Degree: Superintendent from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, a Master of Education from the University of Texas-Arlington in Administration, a Master of Education from National University-Chicago in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor of Science from Michigan Technical College with an emphasis in Biology and minors in Mathematics and Science. He currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools of New Auburn School District, as well as its high school principal (2021-present). Prior to that, he held positions with Altoona High School as principal (2019-2021); Menominee Nation High School as principal (2016-2019); Baraboo High School as associate principal (2014-2016); and Craig High School as a science and mathematics educator.

Timothy Schigur holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, as well as his teaching certification. He is currently the Director of Education at Diamond Assets LLC (2021-present). Prior to that, he served as Superintendent of Schools at St. Mary Catholic Schools in Neenah (2020-2021); Director of Educational  Markets at CD Smith Construction (2019-2020); Superintendent of Schools at Milton School District (2013-2019); principal at Milton Middle School (2007-2013); principal of St. Francis Xavier Catholic School - Cross Plains (2003-2007); history teacher at Edgerton Middle School (1998-2003); and history and geography teacher at Oaklawn Academy (1997-1998).

The meet and greet will be moderated by a representative from Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, the search firm hired by the Prescott School Board to assist with the superintendent search. On Thursday, March 27, the school board will complete final interviews with each candidate. The target timeframe to select the finalist is by mid-April with a start date of July 1, 2025.
