Staff report
The Prescott softball team has a big game Thursday, May 27. The 6-1 Cardinals travel to play undefeated Baldwin-Woodville in a game that could be a battle for the Middle Border Conference title.
The game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
The Cardinals are coming off a big 13-3 win on the road against winless Amery last Tuesday.
Baldwin-Woodville sits at 9-0 in league play.
Against Amery, Maddie Miller collected three doubles to lead the Prescott offense. Sydney Matzek, Grace Franco and Ariana Temmers all had two-hit days.
Franco knocked in three runs, while Miller, Brynley Goehring, Evelyn Sieben, Taylor Graf and Isabella Lenz each knocked in two runs.
Matzek pitched the distance for the Cardinals, allowing just three hits while striking out three.
The Cardinals sit at 12-2 overall with a team batting average of .354 and team earned run average of just 1.83.
Prescott is down to its last couple weeks of regular season play with games at Saint Croix Central Tuesday and home against Ellsworth Thursday, June 3. The Cardinals travel to play at River Falls June 4 and wrap up the regular season at home against Amery June 7.
