It was a completely different feeling this weekend for two Pierce County softball teams that played in an Easter Weekend double-header.

For Prescott, it was a series sweep against the visiting River Falls Wildcats. In the two games on Saturday, April 16, Prescott outscored River Falls 16-5 in the first and 20-3 in the second contest.

River Falls wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning against Prescott. The Wildcats scored three runs in the top of the first and had an early lead going into the bottom of the first.

However, the lead for River Falls was short-lived. Prescott strung together four straight singles in the bottom of the first inning which included hits from junior Izzy Matzek, senior Ariana Temmers, senior Madeline Miller, and senior Liz Rohl, which gave Prescott a 2-0 lead after having only four batters at the plate.

The Cardinals had their dynamic offense on full display, as they hit the ball to all fields, made smart baserunning choices and converted on offensive opportunities. Throughout the rest of the game, the River Falls offense couldn’t get anything going and Prescott continued to add on more runs.

The game finally ended in a 16-5 victory for Prescott as the Cardinals reached the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning. After a single by Miller to start the inning, and a walk by Rohl, the aforementioned Franco stepped up to the
