PRESCOTT – On Monday, Jan. 5, the City of Prescott experienced a 50-gallon centrate overflow at the Wastewater Treatment Facility, located at 517 Jefferson St. The overflow occurred at the septage receiving tank when the tank had not been sufficiently drawn down prior to receiving a load of centrate from the West Central Biosolids Facility.
The overflow was identified and stopped within seconds of occurring and was fully contained on site. Cleanup activities were completed within 30 minutes, and all affected wastewater was collected and returned to the treatment process. At no time did the overflow leave the facility or impact on the surrounding environment.
The City will review operational and maintenance procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
