Prescott School District is pleased to announce the addition of the following new staff members for the 2025-26 school year.

Krista Barker

Position: Seventh grade life science teacher

Hometown: Prescott

College/work experience: Purdue University for both my bachelor and my masters. I have worked for Eli Lilly in the past and more recently have been substitute teaching in Prescott for the past four years.

Hobbies/interests: I love to read, bake and cheer my kids on in their individual sports.

Family: I have been married for 18 wonderful years to my husband Joe. We have three amazing kiddos, Jacob who is 17 and a senior at PHS, Benjamin who is 15 and a sophomore at PHS and Kimberly who is 9 and a fourth grader at PIS.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Getting to know the kids and helping them explore their scientific interests.

Rylee Green

Position: Special education

College/work experience: UW-Eau Claire, where she double-majored in special and elementary education. She completed her studies while abroad in Scotland, then student taught in Alaska. Lat year, she taught fourth grade in another district.

Hobbies/interests: Baking (a recent favorite is sourdough bread), reading, going on walks, traveling and finding new coffee shops.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to build strong connections with my students and support their growth, as well as become part of the Prescott community.

Cecelia Groh

Position: English language arts teacher, PHS

Hometown: Bay City

College/work experience: UW-La Crosse

Hobbies/interests: Reading and writing, spending time with her three sisters and exploring new activities, cafes and restaurants in St. Paul where she lives.

What are you most looking forward to this year? My favorite thing about education is getting to see the world around expand as I learn new things. I hope to instill this gift in my students.

Emilia Krueger

Position: Fourth grade teacher

College/work experience: UW-River Falls graduate with experience substitute teaching numerous grade levels at St. Croix Central.

Hobbies/interests: All things creative and crafty, teaching dance classes, adaptive dance, hiking, being outdoors in the summer, game nights and baking in the winter.

Family: She lives with her husband in Hudson.

What are you most looking forward to this year? My favorite aspect of teaching is watching students grow. I look forward to building a classroom community and working with the fourth grade team.

Brianna Mikla

Position: Third grade teacher, Malone Elementary

Hometown: Baldwin

College/work experience: UW-La Crosse, majored in elementary/middle education with a minor in at-risk child and youth care.

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy spending time with family and friends! I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s running, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, or taking out the side-by-side! I also enjoy traveling and have a goal to visit all 50 states! In my free time, I love going to concerts, playing sports, cooking, and baking.

Family: I recently got engaged to Jacob Murtha this past May! We’re currently working on remodeling an old farmhouse together, which has been such a fun adventure! I am the middle child. I have an older and a younger sister.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I'm excited to join a supportive, close-knit school community in Prescott. I look forward to building strong relationships with students and families, working with passionate educators, and creating a classroom where students feel supported and excited to learn.

Jessica Olson

Position: English language arts teacher

Hometown: Prescott

College/work experience: UW-La Crosse, student teaching at Cottage Grove, long-term sub position at Prescott High School last January-May.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with family and friends, especially while traveling or boating on the river; passionate about reading and staying active.

What are you most looking forward to this year? As a proud PHS alum, I’m excited to give back and help students create the same meaningful and memorable experiences I had as a Prescott student.

Ronnie Porter

Position: Second grade teacher

College/work experience: Master of Arts in elementary education; teaching for nine years in the Southern states, Kentucky and South Carolina.

Hobbies/interests: Playing trombone since the sixth grade, music, watching college and professional sports.

Family: Wife Cori (also an educator), two daughters (Sophia and Emma), two dogs and a cat.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I genuinely enjoy learning and it’s rewarding to transfer that enthusiasm to my students; learning is always pretty or simple, but it is ALWAYS rewarding.

Maggie Raihala

Position: Speech language pathologist, working primarily with early childhood and elementary students to support the development of their communication skills.

College/work experience: UW-Eau Claire, undergraduate and graduate degrees in communication sciences and disorders

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with her husband and their Golden Retriever, as well as their pet bunny. She also loves to sew, camp and travel.

What are you most looking forward to this year? It’s rewarding to help students find their voice and build a foundation for their academic and social success.
