A 23-year-old Prescott woman has been charged with four counts of felony possession of child pornography.
Emily K. Haines posted a $100,000 signature bond March 21 on the charges, which contain the “lifetime supervision of serious sex offenders” modifier. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison and/or fines up to $100,000 on each count.
According to the complaint: A New Brighton (Minn.) police officer informed a Pierce County Jail sergeant that Haines, an inmate on Dec. 16, 2021, had sent child porn photos in the past to a victim in one of his cases. After reading the report, a Pierce County investigator applied for a search warrant for the phone Haines had in her property at Pierce County Jail.
The phone contained multiple images consistent with child pornography, as well as internet searches about teen and underage rape. A total of 59 images were flagged as child porn, many of which had been accessed Dec. 13, 2021. In the phone’s settings, Haines was listed as the phone’s owner.
Haines is scheduled to appear in Pierce County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. May 9.
