PRESCOTT — The Prescott cross-country teams opened their 2026 season Thursday, Aug. 27 at their home invitational. Nine teams competed, highlighted by:
The Prescott girls finished fourth in the team competition and the Cardinal boys earned a sixth-place finish. St. Croix Central’s girls and Totino-Grace’s boys defended their team titles from 2024 and 2025. Each earned narrow victories with the SCC girls edging Bloomer by a single point, 44-45. On the boys side, T-G tied with SCC and won the title by virtue of a tiebreaker.

The race was a showcase of western Wisconsin distance talent. Ciara Hartman of Bloomer took the girls individual title with an 18:03. Prescott’s Dix was second with her 18:41, and Macie Boe of Amery rounded out the top three with a 19:12. Hartman, Dix, and Boe last met in June at the WIAA Track and Field state meet in the 3,200 meters. In that race, Hartman was second, Boe third, and Dix fifth. Jack Schauer of SCC won the boys individual race with a 16:41; Schauer’s distance resume includes a sixth-place finish in the 2025 WIAA State Cross-Country meet.
The Cardinal harriers compete next in the Somerset Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 3.
