Primary election Tuesday in area

Officially, it’s called the ‘Spring Primary Election’— never mind that it’s actually held before the Spring Solstice and official start of Spring this upcoming March. Phil the Groundhog didn’t see his shadow this year, and you know what that means. Even if it’s not strictly scientific, it’s still a plausible explanation.

At any rate, on February 18th from 7:00 a.m. in the morning until 8:00 p.m. at night, Pierce County voters will head to the polls.

Among the ballot choices in this year’s February 18th primary are five candidates running for the Elmwood School Board, along with a three-way Wisconsin Supreme Court Judge’s race between Daniel Kelly, Jill J. Karofsky, and Ed Fallone for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice—but back to the Elmwood School Board.

In Elmwood School District, voters will have the choice between five different candidates for two open school board seats: Patrick Geraets, Andrew A. Zierl, Bernard M. Christman, Troy Steinmeyer, and Brooke Glaus. Of the five, Bernard M. Christman and Brooke Glaus are the current school board incumbents, with the top four vote getters overall going on the April election ballot for the two open school board seats. Anyone within the Elmwood School District can vote for candidates in the school board race.

A sample ballot published by Pierce County with all races appears in this edition of The Journal.
