Rachel Mader
Position: Literacy coach,
Rocky Branch Elementary
Hometown: Apple Valley,
Minn.
College attended: UWRiver Falls, Concordia University – St. Paul Hobbies/interests: I love to read, and even more so, getting to enjoy books with my sons!
Life is busy with two kids under two, so I have spent a lot of time this summer listening to audiobooks! I enjoy being creative, like creating projects with my Cricut and sewing.
My family and I spend a lot of time playing outside. And most importantly, I love spending time with my wonderful family and friends!
Family: My husband Tyler and I live in New Richmond with our two wonderful boys, Garrett and Bo. We have been enjoying watching their many firsts and have spent our summer at local parks, the zoo and with grandparents! We also have two dogs, Lyla and Heuser, who keep us busy playing in the backyard!
Why did you choose teaching as your profession? Simply put, kids are the best. After volunteering with kids in high school, I knew that teaching would be a very impactful career choice. Getting to form relationships with my students is the most fulfilling part of teaching. I love getting to watch them grow as little humans , not only in their knowledge of academic skills, but also socially and as people.
After nine years in the profession, I am excited to take my passion for literacy, relationships and leadership into a new role as a literacy coach!
