Raymond Selmer Thompson, age 96, of Prescott passed away on June 20, 2022 surrounded by his family at Prescott Nursing and Rehab. Raymond was born on Dec. 8, 1925 to Oscar and Martha (Koppang) Thompson in White Rock, MN. After Raymond served his country in World War 2, he met and married the love of his life Dorothy Mae Murphy on Dec. 5, 1945. Their union blessed them with three children, Susan, Richard, and Bruce.

Raymond was a hard-working man. He enjoyed farming, specifically field work. He found great pleasure in mowing lawn and keeping his properties manicured. Raymond was a Cadillac man! Over the years Raymond and Dorothy would take trips all over the United States and whenever someone would ask about the trip, he would talk about how well the car went down the road. It wasn’t about the destination but the drive there. "I didn't drive, I floated there”. One of the places that they visited was the Rocky Mountain Range, his first reaction was "Well, you can’t plant corn on a mountain.” Raymond had a great sense of humor and loved to share it with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 76 years, Dorothy; children: Susan (Don) Pearson, Richard (Jeanne) Thompson and Bruce (Janda) Thompson; grandchildren: Bryce Thompson, Madalyn Thompson, Robert (Lisa) Douglas, and Kristen Douglas; great grandchildren: Samantha and Natalie; siblings: Luverne (Marilyn) Thompson, Lois Wipperling and Maurice (Donna) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Marilyn Carlson, Clarice Anderson, Oscar Thompson and Elton Thompson.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday July 2, 2022 at St John’s UCC: N5496 County Rd QQ, Prescott, WI 54021 with a visitation one hour prior. A Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday July 1, 2022 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home: 1339 Orrin Road, Prescott, WI 54021. Burial will be at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott, WI.
