The River Falls Athletic Booster Club will be hosting their "Share Night" this Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Tarnation Tavern in River Falls from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Tarnation Tavern will be reimbursing the Booster Club 20% of all food and beverage sales during this time period. The RFHS Athletic Booster Club provides financial support for all 22 Wildcat sports teams.
This school year, the Booster Club will have five "Share Nights" at local restaurants, as well as the Wildcat 150 Raffle at Johnnie's Bar.
"It's our way to support our businesses that support our booster club," said volunteer Booster Club marketing and sales chairperson Cheryl Schwanz. "We're supporting the kids, Wildcat athletics, and our businesses on the same night."
This Wednesday's "Share Night" will feature over 20 former Wildcat student-athletes currently participating in college athletics.
"The date (Dec. 18) worked out great for their class and end of semester schedules," said Schwantz. "Most are home for the holidays."
Schwantz said the former Wildcat student-athletes were very excited to help out with the festivities: "They're giving back to their high school that helped get them to where they are now."
With attendance expected to be at capacity for much of the evening according to Schwanz, Tarnation Tavern owner Fred Barr was asked about his thoughts on "losing" money donating 20% back to the RFHS Athletic Booster Club.
"Supporting the Boosters and community organizations is a core principle of running a business in River Falls," said Barr. "We're excited about it. It'll be fun to see all the kids back in town and hear how they're doing."
Of the 20-plus former Wildcat greats participating in the question-and-answer entertainment, four are former volleyball players. Barr was an assistant volleyball coach for the Wildcats for over 10 seasons.
"The relationships are so rewarding," said Barr. "We spent a lot of time in the gym and on the road so it's fun to watch them mature and become great young adults. I'm not expected to buy them each Christmas presents."
Share Night will also include Christmas Movie Trivia in between question-and-answer interview sessions.
The RFHS Athletic Booster Club has raised over $400,000 since 2016 and supports all 22 athletic teams at River Falls High School.
