RIVER FALLS – The River Falls Garden Club supports three to five students annually in the fields of horticulture, agriculture or environmental studies with scholarships. It’s a primary goal for the club.
Senior Emily Larsen made a presentation at the Monday, Feb. 6 meeting about her internship experience. Shannon Murphy’s presentation on her experience with trees and shrubs will be given in April or May.
This spring, three more students will receive scholarships. The club meets the first Monday of the month at the River Falls Public Library at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in plants, gardening and nature.
Funds for these scholarships and other charitable organizations are gained from the annual plant sale, which will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at St. Bridget’s School gym. The sale is a partnership between UWRF and the Garden Club. The university supplies the annuals and planters while the garden club members furnish perennials, herbs, houseplants and vegetables. It’s an amazing sale! Watch for future announcements.
