The River Falls Garden Club (est. 1957) has been operating now for 68 years. Their single fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Bridget’s Gym in River Falls. It opens to the public at 9 a.m. and closes at noon.
Members start plants or bring perennials from their gardens. The UWRF Greenhouse furnishes containers, hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, herb and vegetables. Thanks to members of the Town and Country 4-H club who assist shoppers with carrying plants to their vehicles.
Proceeds from this sale benefit the community in many ways. These include four internship scholarships through the UWRF College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Science Horticulture department. Recipients share their experiences with garden club members and the club follows their progress. Other significant donations include Hope 4 Earth and Earth Fest, Our Neighbors’ Place, the River Falls Community Food Pantry, and others.
Master gardeners are identified by neon green vests to answer questions. And it’s fun. Signs help describe plant needs. This year we are featuring a sustainable pellet made from sheep’s wool from Ewe and Me. It adds nitrogen to containers and is reasonable.
Payment in cash or check only is accepted. And, you can inquire how to become a member so you can receive newsletters, hear speakers on a variety of topics and incorporate the wisdom of other members about what works and what doesn’t.
