RIVER FALLS — Graduating seniors in the School District of River Falls Class of 2026 were recently recognized for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership, and career preparation, earning a combined total of $118,250 in scholarship funding. Individual awards ranged from $200 up to a top individual multi-scholarship package of $11,250.
The graduation ceremony took place on May 31 at RFHS.
In total, 59 graduating seniors were awarded 51 distinct scholarships funded by a generous coalition of civic organizations (including the Lions Club, Rotary, and American Legion), local businesses, school athletic and arts boosters, and private memorial funds. The financial support represents a combination of highly competitive state-level awards and significant investments from local organizations, businesses, families, and private donors to support students' post-secondary education.
In addition to academic accolades, 45 graduating seniors earned their Youth Apprenticeship certificates. This recognition highlights the district’s focus on career readiness and the completion of hands-on, real-world workplace experience.
“This year, we saw a staggering 678 student scholarship applications," shared Kim Bruesewitz, RFHS Counselor/Scholarship Coordinator. “The competition was fierce, and the caliber of work was truly impressive. The generosity from the community is a direct investment in the future, telling these students that their community believes in them.”
Superintendent David Bell: “The scholarships and awards earned by the graduating class of 2026 reflect the students' diverse skills and talents. Our students are fortunate to have so many in the community willing to invest in their future educational goals. The ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate as our students prepare for the next stage of their learning.”
