The River Falls Community Food Pantry needs your help to reach an important goal. The local Pierce nonprofit organization serving families in the River Falls School District is seeking donations to help with costs for its new facility at 705 St. Croix Street, having gotten its start at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in the 1980s.

The local food pantry is currently running an online fundraiser at www.mightycause. com, and if the organization is able to raise $50,000 through its current fundraiser within the next two months, the Otto Bremer Trust of St. Paul, Minnesota has agreed to donate a matching $50,000 toward the construction bill of a new 5,000 square foot building. The new facility on St. Croix Street was built after the Board of Directors recognized the need for a larger and more permanent space in 2017. The pantry’s first and only employee is Executive Director Candice Anderson, who feels fortunate to be in the role she fills, per the organization’s website at rfcfp.org.

Those River Falls residents and/or Pierce County Journal readers wishing to donate toward the food pantry’s goal may do so by going to www.mightycause.com and typing “River Falls Community Food Pantry” in the search bar to arrive at the site. The local food supplier serves over 1,400 households in the River Falls area, and had 2,885 visits last year alone, buying its food from government subsidized sources to get more for less, and thereby be able to help more community residents. So far the River Falls Community Food Pantry has raised $44,610 dollars through the online fundraiser at.
