RIVER FALLS – The School District of River Falls was recently recognized by FOCUS ON ENERGY® with a 2026 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award for its commitment to saving energy, improving district facilities and making smart long-term investments for students, staff and taxpayers.

The district’s energy efficiency work is expected to save enough energy during the lifetime of the equipment to power 3,087 homes for a year! The projects avoid enough carbon emissions similar to taking about 5,000 cars off the road for one year.

Focus on Energy’s Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards honor Wisconsin schools, businesses, local governments, and organizations that go beyond basic energy efficiency and set an example in their communities. Award recipients are recognized for projects that reduce energy use, lower long-term operating costs, and show how energy efficiency can make a meaningful local impact.

The award was presented at the district’s Transportation Building during a June 23 ceremony with representatives from Focus on Energy, WPPI Energy, and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. The recognition highlights the district’s continued work to operate more efficiently while supporting better learning environments across its schools.
