Jamie Benson, the superintendent of the School District of River Falls since 2013, announced his retirement effective June 30, 2024.
Benson informed the board a year ago of his impending retirement. Subsequently, the board engaged in careful succession planning and is confident that the strongest, most qualified successor is in the district. The school board will extend a superintendent contract to David Bell, the current Director of Human Resources and Leadership Development, effective July 1, 2024. Bell has past experience as a superintendent and is a proven leader in the district.
Benson’s departure will mark a significant transition for the School District of River Falls, but the school board is confident it will be a smooth transition. Benson has served the district with distinction. He consistently leads with integrity, a commitment to service, and places the needs of students as his top priority.
