River Valley Band to celebrate community bands with concert

Often when we think about band concerts, we’re usually seeing ourselves outside in the summer enjoying the music at a bandshell or a city park. The sun is warm, and we shade our eyes trying to concentrate on whether our neighbor the base drummer or our loved one playing saxophone is paying attention to the Director’s tempo. All the while you’re tapping your toe to the music and you’re noticing all the people around you. You smile and think “Hey, I’m having a pleasant afternoon”.

You won’t have to wait until summer for this next experience because the River Valley Band will be presenting a concert entitled “Celebrating Community Bands” on Sunday March 5th at 1pm at the Hastings Middle School Auditorium. Now in its 12th season, The River Valley Band of Hastings continues to deliver entertaining band concert programs to local audiences. “Celebrating Community Bands” will provide the audience not only with a program by the River Valley Band with special guest artist trumpet soloist John Huth but also a program by the Rosemount Community Band. Consisting of almost 60 fine musicians, the Rosemount Band will be bringing their own selections for the enjoyment of the audience. Both bands will join on stage for a finale that isn’t seen often, a 110-piece concert band.

So mark your calendar for Sunday March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Hastings Middle School Auditorium for “Celebrating Community Bands.”
