Ronald Frederick Langer, 77 of Ellsworth, Wis., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sept. 21, 2026.
He was born on June 18, 1949 at his grandmother Gertrude Yanisch’s home in Trimbelle Township, Wis. He was the son of Frederick John Langer & Dorothy Bell (Yanisch) Langer.
Ron grew up on the family farm. He loved all aspects of farming that country living could offer. Ron’s talents and interests took him to jobs such as, welding, owning & operating a milk truck route, and auctioneering. Ron joined the Army Reserves in 1968. Through all of these endeavors, farming remained his passion. After Ron’s “retirement,” he kept busy with raising beef cattle, crop farming, and took great pride in helping his son John with his “grand pup JJ,” prepping and painting tractors.
On April 1, 1967, Ron met Darlene Meier at the famous Ellsworth Proch’s Ballroom. This is where the love story began.
Ron and Darlene were united in marriage on Aug. 30, 1969 and enjoyed 57 years of wedded bliss. From the beginning, Ron and Darlene were inseparable. They created many everlasting memories traveling, playing cards, visiting friends and family, attending county fairs, casino outings, bowling, polka dancing, farm shows and auctions, and raising their family. They enjoyed their morning coffee group friends – never to miss a beat of the local happenings.
Ron loved hunting with his children, grandkids and friends. You could bet he’d brag about his “dead-eye” aim. He was always up for a game of checkers or cards. You could count on Ron to bid 5 with 1 trump card in a game of euchre and laugh at you as he won the hand. He never missed an opportunity for a joke or crazy antics.
Ron is survived by his wife Darlene. Children: Julie (Nate) Fleming, Tammy (Hector) Mas, Kelly Langer (Graig Johnson), Tracy (Jeff) Halverson, Jill (Nathan) Sears, and John (Jen) Langer. Grandchildren: Austin (Sydney) Langer, Brett Fleming, Makayla Fleming, Jackson Fleming, Shawni (Alex) Vanscoy, André Mas (Lindsey), Natalie (Mitch) Bodle, Hailey Halverson (Levi Edblad), Katelynn Sears, Cameron Sears, Michael Langer (Julia Olien), Lilly Langer.
