Rush River Trail Riders award scholarships

On Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, about 250 people gathered at the Rush River Trail Riders Clubhouse to recognize the accomplishments of two of the areas graduating seniors.

Bill Paider, Chair of the RRTR Scholarship Committee, welcomed area snowmobilers and guests with opening remarks. He introduced the club’s two 2023 recipients, Dawson Hager and Derek Harmon.

Hager, son of Pete and Trina Hager, is a senior at Baldwin-Woodville High School. He has a wide variety of interests including snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, hunting, fishing and track & field. He participated in the B-W Marching Band for the past four years. They were invited to perform at the 2022 State of Education Address at the State Capitol in Madison and at the Reliaquest Outback Bowl in Tampa Bay, Fla. over the holiday break. Hager has a love of snowmobiling, but also realizes the work required to support the trails, landowners, grooming, and numerous other avenues of the sport. He plans to attend University of Wisconsin-Stout in the Honors College majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering. Honors College is a privilege with impressive experiences to enhance educational opportunities while in college and moving forward.

Harmon, son of Ray Harmon, is a senior at Plum City High School. He has been active in FFA, 4-H and the RRTR Club along with other high school interests. He has contributed in many avenues to assist the needs of his community through food drives, Christmas donations, and assisting children’s shelters. Harmon also devoted many hours to working at the RRTR Snowmobile Clubhouse. He plans to attend Chippewa Valley Technical College for the Diesel Truck Technician program.

These scholarships are possible from the support of the community during our Snow Day event and raffle. Through your contributions, the educational future of our youth has been prioritized. Thank you from the members of the Rush River Trail Riders Snowmobile Club.
