Ruth Marion Linehan, age 82, of Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away on May 25, 2025. She was born in St. Croix Falls, Wis. on July 10, 1942, the youngest child of Doris (Hale) Carlstrom and Daniel Carlstrom.
Ruth graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1960. She married Phillip Linehan of River Falls, and together they had three children. Ruth attended University of Wisconsin River Falls graduating in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and a teaching certificate. After graduating she began teaching third grade at St. Francis Parochial School in Ellsworth, Wis.
After Ruth’s children graduated high school, she moved to Minnesota where she enjoyed attending polka dances, meditation and spiritual centers, and the YMCA’s fitness classes. Ruth was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and studying politics. However, one of her greatest joys was helping raise her grandchildren; she enjoyed taking them swimming, to public libraries, cooking, and gardening with them.
She is survived by her children, Phil (Beth) Linehan of River Falls, Wis. and Shannon Banishoraka of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Matthew, Kamran, Kavon, Hannah (Terry) and Yasmin; brother and sister Charlotte Schively of Cochran, Wis. and Danny (Barbara) Carlstrom of River Falls, Wis.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, father of her children Phillip D. Linehan Sr, sister Dorothy Barsness and her son Michael A. Linehan of Beldenville, Wis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July, 10, 2025 with services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth, Wis. from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and a meal to follow at 4 p.m. at Valley Bar in Prescott, Wis. Please contact Yasmin at 763-321-9005 with any questions.
