The Cardinal wrestlers hosted the Chieftains from Osceola last Thursday. Osceola came out victorious but the Cardinals wrestled tough. Without enough wrestlers to fill out the weight classes, the Cardinals are challenged in duals.

Osceola’s Drew Willeman scored a fall over Matthew Lynes to start the evening before Prescott forfeited the 138 and 145-pound weight classes.

152-pound wrestler Isaiah Tulip pinned opponent Isaac Campeau in 3:25 to score the first Cardinal’s points of the night.

Cardinal Joe Schulte, previously ranked fifth in Division 2 at 220 pounds, moved up in the rankings to second. Schulte sits only behind Jake Rau of Medford.

Schulte pinned Osceola’s Tyler Johnson in 2:42. Shawn Thomason followed up with a pin of his own, forcing the referee to call a stop after just 1:39 against opponent Ty Graves. Shane Butler beat Osceola’s Daniel Nelson in the final match, edging out a decision victory 13-3.

The Cardinals scored 22 points to the Chieftains 60.

This weekend, the Cardinals compete at the Middle Border Conference tournament this Saturday at New Richmond High School and WIAA Regionals the following Saturday at Amery High School.
