On Saturday, March 1 Prescott Community Education and The Building An Inclusive Community Group will host a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary “Bad River” at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center at 9:30 a.m.
The film chronicles the Wisconsin-based Bad River Ojibwe Band’s ongoing fight for sovereignty and treaty rights. Narrated by Academy Award Winner Ed Norton, the documentary provides background to Wisconsin Tribal Nation History and centers around the Bad River Band's fight to protect their land and water from an aging oil pipeline whose rupture threatens the Lake Superior Watershed.
A panel discussion including Ojibwe tribal members Dr. Brian Jackson, Dr. Alton Smart (who appears in the film) and Doreen and Larry Wawronowicz will follow the screening. The event is free and open to the public.
