PRESCOTT – Yes, the calendar says it is mid-January but as I write this, we are in a sunny mid-January thaw! True to form, however, we will have a temperature drop and snow by the weekend. Guess it will be a good time to make some homemade soup or chowder! I for one will not miss the messy, sloppy side streets of this past week.  

Coming activities:  

Wednesday, Jan. 14: It’s cards day with Euchre played at 12:30 p.m. There is plenty of table space for other card games so bring a friend or three and join us. Euchre players are always welcome whether new to the game or you have played in the past. This is a very congenial group!

Thursday, Jan. 15: Pickleball players meet for play at 8:30 a.m. at the Prescott Intermediate School gym on Elm Street. A movie with popcorn will be shown at 1 p.m. Today's feature is "We Bought A Zoo."

Friday, Jan. 16: Memory Cafe meets from 10-11:30 a.m. at the community room in the lower level of the First National Bank of River Falls (1151 Canton St.)

Tuesday, Jan. 20: Pickleball players meet for play at 8:30 a.m. at the Prescott Intermediate School gym. Mahjongg players meet from 9-11:30 a.m. weekly at Joy Lutheran Church. Hooks and Needles group meets at 10 a.m.; bring your projects (no teaching). Then at 12:30 p.m., meet for a fun dice game of Left, Right, Center. Bring your dimes!

Wednesday, Jan. 21: Program and Publicity committee meets at 10:15 a.m. Cards Day with Euchre played at 12:30 p.m. and Bridge played at 1 p.m.

Prescott Senior Gathering Place is located at 1220 St. Croix St.; use Door 5 of the Prescott Middle School. Regular hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. All seniors age 55 and older are invited.
