PRESCOTT – June is half over and we are well into summer. A drive around town or country reveals flowers blooming everywhere. Marigolds, hanging pots of gorgeous colors, and don't forget all the Peony bushes especially at Carpenter Nature Center across the river.
The trip to Feed My Starving Children last Friday was a rewarding experience and we hope to do it again. Another upcoming trip is closer to home. On Thursday, July 10 there will be a pontoon boat ride from 1-3 p.m. on the St. Croix and Mississippi. Sign up at the Gathering Place by July 4.
Upcoming activities:
Wednesday, June 18: Play cards with Gathering Place members and guests. Euchre will be played from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and Bridge from 1-3:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 19: Advisory Board meets at 10:30 a.m. No other scheduled activities but come to Gathering Place to browse the books available to borrow, try your hand at the puzzle always in progress or play one of the many games available with your friends.
Friday, June 20: Memory Cafe meets from 10-11:30 a.m. and this Friday they are meeting at Freedom Park, 200 Monroe St.
Tuesday, June 24: Play Mahjongg at 9 a.m. at Joy Lutheran Church (1435 St. Croix St.) Pickleball players meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Prescott Intermediate School gym. Book Club meets at 1 p.m. to discuss the book “Main Street” by Sinclair Lewis.
Wednesday, June 25: Euchre players meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m .
Prescott Senior Gathering Place is located at 1220 St. Croix St. at the Prescott Middle School, Door 5. Regular hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 12:30-3:30 p.m. All seniors age 55 years and older are welcome.
