PIERCE COUNTY Sheriff’s Office Reports
The following incidents were reported to Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 24-31.
Monday, Jan. 24
A vehicle was removed from the ditch at 6:16 a.m. near Van Buren Road and North Second Street in Spring Valley. There was no damage.
Another vehicle was removed from the ditch at 8:14 a.m. near W5570 Highway 63, Ellsworth. There was no damage.
Police responded at 8:40 a.m. to a car vs. tree crash that had occurred at 8 p.m. the previous night near Highway 10 and 322nd Avenue, Maiden Rock. An accident report was completed; there were no injuries.
A caller reported damage to his home at 1:18 p.m. at W9762 290th Ave., Hager City, caused from a vehicle malfunction. He started his vehicle to back it up, put it in gear and it crashed into the house even though he hit the brakes. It then went across the street into the neighbor’s yard.
Officers responded at 4:50 p.m. to an unwanted woman at N8652 940th St., River Falls. The woman left on her own.
At 5:10 p.m., a complainant reported a county plow damaging his yard at N1639 County Road C, Hager City. He agreed to call the Highway Department.
Officers responded at 5:32 p.m. to a vehicle in the ditch at Highway 65 and County Road O, River Falls. The driver was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released to her mother.
Police performed a check on a vehicle in the ditch at 6:35 p.m. near W10555 County Road FF, River Falls. The vehicle was unoccupied and well of the road. There didn’t appear to be damage.
At 8:02 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle parked behind W7725 Highway 10, Ellsworth, and people walking around with flashlights. A man there said he was the cleaning service and was throwing out trash.
Tuesday, Jan. 25
Police responded to a hitand- run at 9:05 a.m. near Highway 10 and 950th Street, Hager City. It appeared a truck had hit a stop sign and street sign, entered a field then drove out. The post will have to be replaced. There are no known suspects/vehicles.
Officers responded at 11:40 a.m. to N4609 County Road S, Elmwood, to perform a welfare check on a woman who hadn’t been heard from in a few days. They forced entry and she was found deceased.
A caller reported a possible vehicle fire at 2 p.m. near County Road EE and 170th Avenue in Bay City. The vehicle was smoking.
Police found a disabled vehicle partially in the lane of traffic on the crest of a hill at 2:45 p.m. near 1015th Street and County Road FF, River Falls. The driver was argumentative when told it needed to be removed sooner.
A caller reported a BNSF train parked and blocking the crossing at 10:49 p.m. at Wabash Street in Bay City. The crossing opened when the train cleared.
Officers responded at 11:48 p.m. to W10486 County Road FF, River Falls, for a possible fire. It turned out to be a controlled burn no one had called in.
Wednesday, Jan. 26
Officers responded at 7:06 a.m. to N7488 110th St., Spring Valley, for a harassment complaint. The officer contacted both parties and worked out a compromise.
Police were called at 7:20 a.m. to N859 385th St., Maiden Rock, for a hit and run to a vehicle that had occurred sometime the previous night after 10 p.m. and before 7 a.m.
Police responded at 2:14 p.m. to W1252 55th Ave., Stockholm, where a man was found on the ground. He appeared to be deceased and frozen to the ground in his driveway.
Deputies assisted Ellsworth police with traffic control at a two-vehicle crash at 2:42 p.m. at Main and Pond streets.
Deputies assisted Ellsworth police at 6 p.m. at a domestic at 175 E. Susan St.
A vehicle went into the ditch due to a snowdrift in the road at 7:49 p.m. near County Road CC and Highway 10, Maiden Rock. Police remained on the scene with lights until a tow arrived. The Highway Department was notified.
Officers saw a vehicle drive into a snowdrift and get stuck at 8:19 p.m. near Highway 10 and 280th Street, Maiden Rock. They remained on scene with lights until a tow arrived. The Highway Department was notified of the drift.
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle with its lights on parked at the end of a dirt road at 8:34 p.m. near W9731 290th Ave., Hager City. Police located no one.
A deputy responded at 8:57 p.m. to Highway 29 and 710th Street, River Falls, for a onevehicle crash with partial road blockage and unknown injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.
Officers responded at 10:28 p.m. to a vehicle in the ditch at Highway 10 and 322nd Avenue, Maiden Rock. The driver was cited for operating without a license. The vehicle was towed.
Police were called to a vehicle in the ditch at 10:35 p.m. at Highway 10 and 280th Street, Maiden Rock. There were no injuries and no damage. The vehicle was towed.
Thursday, Jan. 27
While patrolling, a deputy saw several people pushing a car down the road at 5:47 a.m. near County Road J and 690th Street, Beldenville. The car had struck a deer.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with no injuries at 9 a.m. at Highway 63 and County Road V, Ellsworth. An accident report was completed.
Deputies assisted Ellsworth police with a warrant attempt at 10:40 a.m. at 262 S. Grant St.
Police responded to a snowmobile on fire at 3:44 p.m. near W4641 890th Ave., Baldwin. The snowmobile was fully engulfed in flames. Spring Valley Fire responded to extinguish the fire; there were no injuries.
Suspicious activity was reported at 6:22 p.m. at W3856 Highway 10, Ellsworth. The people there were waiting for the homeowner to arrive.
Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash, along with River Falls police and Wisconsin State Patrol, at 7:13 p.m. near W10791 County Road M, River Falls. WSP will complete the crash report.
Friday, Jan. 28
An officer checked on a suspicious vehicle parked at N1620 County Road VV, Hager City at 2:23 a.m. The business owner said the person was okay to be there.
A snowmobiler was cited for expired registration and trespassing at 9:55 a.m. near Project Drive and Winter Avenue in Elmwood.
Police were called to a onevehicle crash at 9:55 a.m. at 570th Avenue and 1000th Street, Hager City. The vehicle’s passenger tires had left the roadway, it hit a mailbox and was sucked into the ditch. An accident report will be completed.
Deputies responded at 5:09 p.m. to W11149 County Road M, River Falls, for a possible intoxicated person/domestic. The man was out on bond with an absolute sobriety condition. He was arrested for bail jumping and domestic disorderly conduct.
Officers responded at 7 p.m. to N8546 50th St., Spring Valley, for a harassment complaint. Both parties agreed not to communicate anymore.
Officers assisted Ellsworth police with a warrant arrest at 7:01 p.m. at 463 E. Wall St. The man was taken into custody without incident.
Saturday, Jan. 29
A deputy observed a suspicious vehicle parked at 12:21 a.m. at N1299 825th St., Hager City. The occupants were talking before having to head home. They were advised to leave since the business was closed.
Officers responded to a truck vs. tree crash at 12:46 a.m. at W6476 Cemetery Road, Bay City. The truck failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a tree. The driver fled from the scene; police couldn’t reach him by phone or at his residence. He contacted police the next morning.
A caller reported a vehicle theft at 8:28 a.m. at N3539 570th St., Bay City. The car had been taken from the driveway. It was later located and had been involved in a car vs. deer crash.
Officers were called at 6:15 p.m. to W5833 County Road N, Beldenville, for a civil complaint. The parties were able to work through the dispute while deputies were on scene.
Deputies responded for a vehicle in the ditch at 9:29 p.m. near N4306 Highway 63, Ellsworth. The driver was arrested for OWI-fourth.
Sunday, Jan. 30
A caller reported a woman walking down the road without shoes at 12:24 a.m. near 1145th Street and Highway 10, Prescott. The woman had gotten picked up before police arrived. When contacted, she said she and her boyfriend had been fighting.
Deputies were advised of a possible fight at 12:28 a.m. at N1833 785th St., Hager City. The bartender called back and said all parties had separated and were leaving.
A vehicle was towed from the ditch at 4:25 a.m. near W8476 Highway 29, River Falls.
Police took a report of a dead turtle with suspicious circumstances at 9:39 a.m. at 805 Wild Rose Ave., River Falls.
A caller reported someone had brought coyote hunting dogs onto her property at 12:53 p.m. at W5090 370th Ave., Bay City. When she talked to the dogs’ owners, she said they laughed about trespassing.
A complainant reported the neighbor boy refused to go home at 2:21 p.m. at N6133 825th St., Ellsworth. The complainant said the boy’s grandma called her and told her to tell him to come home or call the police if he refused. The boys hid from the officer. The caller’s husband was on his way home and said he’d take care of it.
Officers responded to a fully engulfed house fire at 3:19 p.m. at W5398 Highway 29, Spring Valley. No one was home at the time.
A caller reported an intoxicated man leaving W7485 Highway 65, Beldenville, at 5:40 p.m. He allegedly popped the tires of a parked vehicle. Police couldn’t locate the suspect. The bar owner requested the man be trespassed. No one wanted to pursue charges.
Monday, Jan. 31
Deputies responded to three-vehicle crash with injuries at 6:31 a.m. at Highway 29 and 635th Avenue outside of Prescott. One man was transported to a hospital.
