Head Coach Emily Calabrese’s thinclads scored 96.5 points, easily outdistancing Baldwin-Woodville and Amery._ Seniors Abby Syverson (100 meter), Grace Carlson (200 meter), Tori Benck (triple jump), and Nicole Dalman (shot put), captured individual honors and led the Cardinal charge._The Cardinal boys finished third in team points on the day with Josh Gergen (200 meter) and Aiden Russell (high jump) garnering first place finishes. The teams are back in action this Thursday in Ellsworth.__ St. Croix Falls, one of the top teams in Division 3 baseball in the state, comes to Firehall Field for a Saturday doubleheader against the Cardinals. _Led by hard-throwing

Game one of the twin bill begins at 11 a.m. The Prescott Pirates will open their 2021 season this Saturday when they host Osceola at Firehall Field._Game time for the local amateurs will begin approximately 45 minutes after game 2 of the high school doubleheader. _ In Friday’s baseball win over Amery, junior Ben Rohl singled, doubled, and tripled in five at bats against the Warriors. _The left-handed swinging Rohl reached base all five plate times and was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals. _ A quick look at the archives shows no Prescott Cardinal player has hit for the cycle in high school._ Speaking of Amery, the baseball field playing surface for the Warriors is arguably the worst in the conference and among the poorest in western Wisconsin._Dangerous infield lips led to several horrific, dangerous hops and left infielders on both teams shaking their heads._Assistant Coach Brad Matzek said it reminded him of the field at Durand about a dozen years ago._ And when it comes to venues, Prescott fans enjoyed the opposite end of the teeter totter playing at First National Bank of River Falls Field._The all turf playing surface is surrounded by impressive ballpark amenities that makes any area baseball fan green with envy._ The nomination deadline for the Prescott Hall of Fame has been extended to July 1._Those interested in nominating someone for possible induction can pick up a hard copy of the nomination form in the high school office. Those under consideration are nominated in one of three categories: _Service, Extra Curricular, or Achievement. The person who nominates the candidate identifies which of the three categories best fits the nominee. Objective scoring rubrics are then used by Hall of Fame Committee members in the selection process. The Chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee is Tanya Sponholz and the Vice Chair is Dave Hovel. The 2021 induction banquet is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 9 in the Prescott High School commons. Stay tuned for further details._ The Cardinals of St. Mary’s University (Winona, Minn.) wrapped up the regular season this past weekend in Northfield and earned a split against Carleton College._St. Mary’s infielder and Prescott High School alumna Mackenzie Carey played in 28 of the 31 games the Cardinals played this season.__ The North Dakota State Bison moved into second place in Summit League standings, winning three of four against Omaha University. NDSU improves to 17-10 in league play and 32-14 overall. In the 8-7 come-from-behind win last Saturday against the Mavericks, Peter Brookshaw went 2-4 for the Bison. Brookshaw now has 50 hits on the season to go along with 35 runs batted in._ NDSU will close out the conference schedule with a four-game series at home against South Dakota State and finish the regular season with a threegame series in Richmond, Ky. against the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky._ The University of Wisconsin- Whitewater Warhawk baseball team holds a onegame lead over Stevens Point in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Conference._Ranked #8 in the latest NCAA Division III National Rankings, the Warhawks are looking for their seventh conference championship in the last eight years. The Warhawk softball team recently clinched its sixth conference championship in the last seven years._There are few better NCAA Division III baseball and softball programs in the nation better than the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater._ It’s hard to believe that in less than a month it will be WIAA tournament time for all spring sports._ Undoubtedly Cardinal rooters are busy currently checking tournament bracket assignments and the records/performances for possible post season foes in early June.__ Headshaker of the week: In a game hosted in Prescott this past week a player from a visiting school was ejected from the game for directing an expletive at the home plate umpire after a called third strike that was heard by several in attendance. _One Prescott local said “It didn’t surprise me at all based on how their team was acting the whole game.”_ High school players getting ejected for swearing at an umpire … now that’s a headshaker._
