Prescott Cardinal football fans are still talking about Friday’s second come from behind victory over the Highway 10 rival Ellsworth Panthers. In particular, the Brody Temmers to Jalyn Fleming touchdown pass that gave Prescott a 14-10 lead midway through the third quarter. Temmers lofted a pass down the sideline to Fleming who after the catch, zigged and zagged across the field, broke a minimum of three tackles, and dove into the end zone to give Prescott a lead they would never relinquish. And let’s not forget the impressive performance of the Prescott defense, in particular the play of seniors Wyatt Wrisky, Ryder Doyle, and Andrew Lesso.

The Wisconsin woods will be alive with hunters this Saturday as hunters of all kinds celebrate “opening day.” Bowhunters will climb trees, ruffed grouse hunters in Zone A will wade through blackberry bushes, and squirrel hunters will roam oak groves with hopes of a successful harvest. And let’s not forget, cottontail rabbit will also be on the menu this weekend. Good luck hunters and be safe.

From the WIAA: The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the La Crosse Center have reached a three-year agreement, moving the State Team Wrestling Tournament to the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, effective in March 2026.
“With the expansion of the State Team Wrestling Tournament format this year and the advent of the State Girls Team Tournament in 2027, this event has actually outgrown the UW Field House’s floor space and warm-up areas,” WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser said. “The UW staff has created a welcoming environment for this tournament for 19 years. We are very grateful for nearly two decades of hospitality and look forward to continuing to host the Individual Championships on UW’s campus at the Kohl Center. We are excited to continue to provide the outstanding championship experience for the student-athletes, coaches and spectators with the move to the La Crosse Center.”
Headshaker of the week. Football season is the season of cliches. We hear them on television. We read them online. We hear them in the stands. And many of us, in turn, use them when we watch games in person, many of us more than others. The list is endless. “Hit somebody!” “Watch the fake!” “You gotta want it!” “Suck it up!” “Ref call ‘em both ways!” “Throw the flag!” “Hey Ref! You’re missing a good game!” “You gotta wrap ‘em up!” “Throw the ball!” “Run the ball!” Perhaps what should be included is a check-off list including all the football cliches a fans in the stands or along the sidelines hear during each game. Relentlessly screaming cliches during games? That’s a headshaker.
